The closure of the Tesco Metro resulted in a massive reduction in the number of people coming in to the town centre, and consequently greatly affected almost all the smaller businesses in the locality.

Whilst the site being taken over by another retailer is a positive development, there is still a lot of work to do if we are to prevent the centre of Smethwick declining even further
